Frequently Asked Questions

Usage & Safety

How long should I stay in a cold plunge?

For beginners, start with 1–3 minutes and gradually increase exposure as your body adapts. Always exit immediately if you feel dizzy, excessively numb, or uncomfortable.

What safety precautions should I take?
  • Consult your physician if you have existing health conditions.
  • Avoid alcohol before or after use.
  • Enter and exit slowly.
  • Focus on controlled breathing.
  • Warm up gradually afterward.
  • Stay hydrated before and after sessions.
Can I use the cold plunge in the winter?

Chillers are rated for operating temperatures between 34°F and 113°F.

They are not rated for sub-freezing temperatures. Damage caused by freezing is not covered under warranty.

Temperature & Performance

What temperature range does the Dynamic Cold Therapy cold plunge support?

Adjustable temperature settingsrange from 37°F to 85°F.

What’s the difference between the 0.8HP and 1.0HP chiller?

The primary difference is cooling speed:

  • 0.8HP Chiller: Cools 1–3°F every 30 minutes
  • 1.0HP Chiller: Cools 1–3°F every 20 minutes

The 1.0HP model is better suited for:

  • Faster recovery between users
  • Warmer climates
  • Higher frequency use
How loud is the Chiller?

The Chiller operates at approximately 60–65 decibels, similar to a standard conversation.

Noise may increase slightly when the ozone feature is running.

Maintenance & Water Care

Does the cold plunge self-sanitize?

No. The tub does not self-sanitize.

Routine maintenance includes:

  • Regular water replacement
  • Cleaning the interior
  • Replacing filters (if using a chiller)
  • Cleaning strainers
  • Using the ozone feature (if equipped)

Ozone assists in reducing bacteria but does not replace standard maintenance procedures.

We recommend replacing the water regularly, about every 20 plunges.

For more information about water maintenance, please refer to this Water Maintenance Guide.

Can I use chemicals to treat the water?

Chlorine may be used cautiously. However, this is a health & wellness product and heavy chemical reliance is discouraged.

If chemicals are used:

  • Monitor pH balance
  • Monitor alkalinity
  • Monitor hardness
  • Maintain safe concentration levels

Bromine is not recommended, as it is corrosive to internal materials.

Does the system have a filter?

The tub itself does not contain a filter.

Filtration occurs through the Chiller unit, which circulates and filters water.

How often does the filter need to be replaced?

In a well maintained system with a single user, the filter may need to be replaced as little as every 3-4 weeks, but will need more frequent replacements with heavier use.

Skimming the surface for dust and debris, keeping the Cold Plunge covered when not in use, and showering or at least rinsing off before plunging are all steps that will help increase the time between Filter changes.

Signs a filter needs replacement:

  • Discoloration
  • Deterioration
  • Reduced flow rate
  • Increased chiller noise

For detailed instructions on how to replace the filter, please refer to this Guide.

What does the ozone feature do?

The ozone generator helps reduce bacteria in the water.

  • Activates approximately every 15 minutes (unless turned off)
  • Adjustable on Basic & Premier models
  • On/Off only for Standard model

Ozone improves water cleanliness but does not eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

Installation & Setup

What are the electrical requirements?

All Chillers operate on:

  • Standard 120V / 15AMP outlet

Recommended:

  • Dedicated 15AMP circuit
  • GFCI outlet for safety
Can the Cold Plunge be installed outdoors?

Cold Plunge tubs are suitable for outdoor use.

Chillers are rated for outdoor use but are not weatherproof.

Avoid:

  • Direct sunlight exposure
  • Poor ventilation
  • Freezing conditions

Barrel models may benefit from staining or clear coating to improve longevity.

How do I fill the Cold Plunge Tub?
  1. Ensure plugs or hoses are securely fastened.
  2. Confirm the drain is closed.
  3. Place a standard garden hose in the tub.
  4. Fill to 2/3–3/4 full.
  5. If using a chiller, ensure the water inlet is submerged.

For detailed instructions, please refer to the Set Up Guide.

How do I drain the Cold Plunge Tub?
  • Unscrew the Drain Cap to allow water to flow.
  • A Drain Adapter allows connection to a garden hose.
  • First-generation models may include a pop-up plug on the tub floor.
How do I change the filter on the Chiller?
  1. Close inlet and outlet valves.
  2. Use the provided wrench to remove the filter cup.
  3. Replace the filter.
  4. Reattach and reopen ports before restarting the unit.

Some minor water spillage during replacement is normal.

For detailed instructions on how to replace the filter, please refer to this Guide.

How long are the hoses?

The Chiller includes two 8-foot hoses.

What size are the fittings?
  • Chillers, Barrel & Cuboid tubs: 3/4” Threaded NPT fittings
  • Inflatable tubs: 1” ID fittings (with included adapters)
Can I use longer hoses?

Yes, but longer hoses may:

  • Reduce cooling efficiency
  • Increase condensation buildup
  • Increase pump strain

Efficiency reduction varies depending on setup conditions.

Does the system require plumbing modifications?

A Cold Plunge system does not necessarily require any plumbing modifications, unless the user prefers to add plumbing features for their convenience.

The Cold Plunge can be filled with a standard garden hose simply placed in the tub. The unit comes with a Drain Valve and an Adapter so that a garden hose can be connected to the Drain Outlet and the draining water can be directed somewhere appropriate.

If users prefer to have the water drain directly into their home's plumbing system, it may be pertinent to show the Plumber where the Drain Outlet is located on the unit. The Drain Outlet is a 1" Male NPT fitting.

Can the Chiller be installed in a closet or elevated position?

Proper placement requires:

  • At least 36 inches of rear ventilation clearance
  • Level positioning with the tub
  • Moisture management for condensation

Installing above or below the tub level may increase pump strain and reduce longevity.

Materials & Durability

What’s the difference between stainless steel and PVC interiors?

Stainless Steel Interior

  • Premium appearance
  • Elegant finish
  • May show water spots

PVC Interior

  • Easier maintenance
  • Better suited for coastal environments
  • Resistant to salt-air corrosion

For coastal regions (within ~50 miles of ocean), PVC is recommended.

Warranty

What is the warranty period?

All Dynamic Cold Therapy products include a 1-year Limited Warranty.

The warranty period commences on the date of purchase and is non-transferrable.
